beltway inner loop to head westbound on 66. we also had the overnight roadwork that was tying up some lanes on 66 as you guys continue inbound. this is the service road here from nutley street. you will find the lanes there are open. no problems reported if you are traveling north on 95 and 395. coming across the american legion bridge, still an easy drive between 270 and tysons corner. no problems to report on the inner loop. top side of the beltway at speed between college park and bethesda. no problems to report on 95 and 295 leaving for the beltway. that's a check of your fox 5 on-time traffic. metro is showing off a sample of its newest railcars. they are scheduled to go into service sometime within the next 18 months. fox 5's john henrehan goes on board to give us a look. ive us . >> reporter: at roughly $2 million each, metro's 7,000 series railcars are designed to be far safer than the oldest

cars in the system. >> this car is made out of stainless steel, not aluminum, much more rugged material to work with. >> reporter: inside, the new cars will be equipped with multiple cameras so the operator can keep an eye on passengers inform fought thank you, these pictures might be transmitted real time to metro police headquarters. there will be multiple electronic sign boards inside the new cars but customer focus groups were firm on one thing. >> they are silent. so we listen to customers who said they did not want audio. >> reporter: with no armrest, the seats feel a little roomier and the aisles are a little wider. there is space underneath every seat for a backpack or even a suitcase. carpeting is history. it has been replaced with what is called non-flip resilient flooring. there are three sets of doors on each side but the new cars have moved the outer doors 36 inches closer to the center. managers think this is going to improve traffic flow. here is why. under the old configuration,
